Frequently asked questions

How do I remove GST from a total?
Divide the GST-inclusive total by 1 plus the rate, do not just subtract the percentage. At 10% in Australia, $110 ÷ 1.1 = $100 net plus $10 GST. Subtracting 10% would wrongly give $99.
What are India’s current GST rates?
Since GST 2.0 took effect on 22 September 2025, the main slabs are 0%, 5%, 18% and 40%; the old 12% and 28% slabs were removed. Gold and jewellery stay at 3%. Enter 12% or 28% as a custom rate for older invoices.
Why divide by 11 to find GST in Australia?
Because GST is one eleventh of a GST-inclusive price at a 10% rate, not one tenth. $110 ÷ 11 = $10. New Zealand uses the equivalent 3/23 fraction at 15%.
Which Canadian rate do I use?
Charge the customer’s province rate. Rates run from 5% in Alberta to 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and PEI. Ontario is 13% HST and Nova Scotia dropped to 14% on 1 April 2025.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored, and the numbers reset when you close the tab.
